Hon. Premier David Eby - MLA for Vancouver - Point Grey
"Happy B.C. Day to the readers of Entertainment Magazine! Have a joyful summer with friends and family. B.C. Day is a great time to celebrate all we enjoy about living in this amazing place we call home."
\n\n\n\nWe know lots of people are facing big challenges due to global inflation and high interest rates. That's why every day, my team and I are taking action to make life better for all families in British Columbia. We are focussed today and tomorrow on what matters most to you. We are helping ease the pressure of everyday costs. We are delivering homes for working - and middle-class families. We are strengthening our public health care so it is there when you need it.
\n\n\n\nPart of this work is building new schools and hospitals across the province. In the diverse, dynamic and fast-growing Surrey, we are building and renovating to move kids from portables into modern classrooms. Since forming government seven years ago, we have added 13,500 new student seats in Surrey, or about 540 classrooms. We need to do even more for students have the space to learn, rather than shoving more and more students into a single classroom as our population south of the Fraser grows at record levels. We are breaking ground for a new Surrey hospital and BC Cancer Care Centre in Cloverdale.
\n\n\n\nWe are expanding Surrey Memorial Hospital with a new acute tower and kidney care unit, providing better care for patients in Surrey and residents living south of the Fraser River. Surrey will also be a centre for training a new generation of family doctors at the new Simon Fraser University medical school. It is the first medical school in Western Canada in 55 years, and new doctors will start learning there in just over 12 months from now.
\n\n\n\nThere’s more work to do to make sure British Columbia remains a great place to work and live. That’s why we’re continuing to build a sustainable economy that works for everyone.
\n\n\n\nKey initiatives for the community:
\n\n\n\nEvery day when I get home from work to my family, I am reminded about what is important. We want everyone here to be able to build the best life possible, for themselves and for those they love.
