"We may be in the brieks and mortar industry, but at the end of the dav,our business is about people, first and foremoslt."
\n\n\n\nBorn in Jalandhar, India, Charan has immigrated twice: once to the United Kingdom, as a teenager, and then in 1978 to Canada, the country he chose to call his home and raise a family he deeply loves. A former machinist turned realtor and real estate development entrepreneur, Charan feels that his experiences with immigration have contributed to his success in business.
\n\n\n\nDuring his formative years in Canada, Charan, a highly motivated man who wanted to provide a safe and nourishing environment to his family chose to work three jobs at once. During the day he worked as a machinist — his profession in the United Kingdom. In the evenings, he continued to work, this time as a pizza deliveryman, and, on weekends, he worked to learn the nuances of the construction industry.
\n\n\n\nLike many immigrants, Charan started his life in Canada earning less than what he used to make in the United Kingdom. After one year, he had already surpassed his previous income. He was making a good living as a machinist, but he wanted more.
\n\n\n\n“I don' like ceilings and growth as a machinist was limited,” he explains.
\n\n\n\nCharan decided to go back to school and get his real estate license. He worked as a realtor for 22 years before deciding to become a developer. He already had some experience renovating houses and selling them for a profit, so he started a real estate development company with his sons. It began as a small venture, but now is a well-known name in the industry.

Breakthrough projects that carved a niche for him in the industry
\n\n\n\nOver the years, The Tien Sher Group has become a “one-stop shop for real estate developer clients, streamlining services such as assembling, rezoning, designing, selling and servicing new home projects. His goal is to provide housing at a price that people can afford. The projects do not revolve around just one group of buyers but a community as a whole. Starting from Single-family homes in Richmond to /, Townhouses in New Westminster and Condominiums in Surrey to Commercial Blocks in the region, Tien Sher has started from humble beginnings and turned into an industry giant of today.
\n\n\n\nIt all started in 2001, when Charan took the first step into the development industry creating housing affordability solutions through innovative midsized, vertically integrated developments. Fast forward to 2005, Charan purchased 12 acres in Whalley. And now, through his efforts, Whalley has been recognized as the Historic Whalley District and has been transformed into a community from a clean slate that it was. Among other achievements, he is said to have given birth to the “micro-suite” in Surrey, which allowed for a down payment as low as $6,000. The BALANCE building was B.C''s first-ever for-sale micro-suite building.
\n\n\n\nCharan says, “I really don't know when to stop, and | don't really have that barrier in my mind. | am the sort of person who if dares to imagine something, then also dares to do it without questioning my abilities. | always look to the end result and not the pitfalls in between.” The word 'legacy' is very important to him — and we can say that he has proudly created a great legacy for his generations to come.

\n\n\n\nThe Family Support
\n\n\n\nCharan’s long journey from his humble beginnings in India to success in his adopted home of Canada took a few twists and turns along the way but was kept on track by hard work, strong ambition and the support of his family. Even when he was setting up his company in Canada, he wanted to include his sons in every aspect. Tien Sher, or "Three Lions" in his native Punjabi language stands for him and his two sons who signify the lions in the logo of the company. His wife, Raj Sethi, he says is the strongest pillar of strength for him. Charan also has a daughter and he loves to spend his leisure time with his grandchildren. Charan, who believes that his hardwork and dedication has brought him to this pedestrial where he stands proud today, is because of his never give in attitude towards life. He says, “l will keep on going and In my book, there’s no room for failure.”
