This BC Day, in addition to celebrating the vibrant diversity and beauty of our province, I want to highlight a few key successes and progress the BCNDP Government has achieved over the past few years. Our commitment to enhancing the wellbeing of British Columbians remains unwavering.

Our provincial government has made significant strides in strengthening healthcare access for our community. We are investing in the expansion of Burnaby Hospital with a $2.4-billion redevelopment project, ensuring that our residents have access to top-notch medical facilities. Additionally, the new Urgent and Primary Care Centre at Metrotown is providing more comprehensive medical services to meet the growing needs of our community.

Key Initiatives for the community:

To help families manage the pressures of global inflation, initiatives like the BC Family Benefit and various credit rebates, such as ICBC and BC Hydro, are making real differences. These programs are designed to help you keep more money in your pockets, easing financial burdens and supporting everyday expenses.

In response to the housing crisis, we have accelerated the construction of new homes, with over 4,000 new homes built in Burnaby since 2017. This effort ensures that more families have access to affordable and quality housing within our community.

Education is another critical area where we are making substantial investments. We are expanding and upgrading schools across the Burnaby School District to provide new spaces and ensure a safe, seismically secure environment for our students.

As we celebrate B.C. Day, let us reflect on these achievements and the positive impact they have on our community. I am proud to serve as your MLA and look forward to continuing our work together to build a brighter future for Burnaby and all of British Columbia.
