Hon. Bruce Ralston - MLA for Surrey - Whalley
"B.C. Day is a time to come together to celebrate this wonderful province we call home. Let's celebrate our province, reflect on what it means to us, and how we can make it a more welcoming place for all. I look forward to celebrating B.C. Day with the Surrey-Whalley community and wish everyone a happy B.C. Day!"
\n\n\n\nMLA Bruce Ralston was born in Victoria, raised in Vancouver and spent his childhood summers in his mother's hometown of Smithers. Ralston and his partner raised their three children in Surrey.
\n\n\n\nFirst elected as the MLA for Surrey-Whalley in 2005, voters have re-elected him four consecutive times since then, in 2009, 2013, 2017 and 2020 general elections.
\n\n\n\nKey initiatives for the community:
\n\n\n\nMLA Ralston and our BC NDP Government are working hard on the things that matter most to the people of Surrey. To strengthen healthcare for people, we are building a new acute care tower at Surrey Memorial Hospital and opening a new medical school at SFU's Surrey campus. We are building more homes, including more homes near transit, more townhouses and duplexes, and affordable homes for seniors. Construction on the Skytrain extension from Surrey City Centre to Langley is beginning this year, to expand our public transit system and ease gridlock.
