Vijay Vaibhav Saini
T his person does not need an alarm. His passion keeps him awake. After settling to have an interface with this personality from Electronic and Entertainment media, without much time, I found him likable to confabulate with.\n\n
\n\nAs I walked the talk, I found him at ease as far as his poise was conveying me. Vijay Vaibhav – meaning thereby “Magnificent Winner”- took the first breath of his life at a pious place named Malerkotla in Punjab, India.\n\nHis passion brought him to Canada in 2002. Like other immigrants he had his share of struggles to find his moorings. His first job with Radio Punjab in the year 2002, carved a niche and encouraged him to move along in the ethnic media industry. Although he had also landed a job at the Royal Bank of Canada, he knew that radio was where he wanted to be. The launching of 93.1 RED FM in 2006 gave him an opportunity to be back on the airwaves. Presently, he anchors a famous talk show on current & social affairs on 93.1 RED FM.\n\nAs this job fed his passion, he has continued to work in this field and has also made forays into television and movies. He has worked in several mainstream TV commercials as an actor, co-hosted two seasons of an English language health show which was telecast in BC & Alberta, and has three Punjabi films to show on his acting resume. Vijay has received encouraging reactions to his work in Punjabi films: Jag Jeondeyande mele (2009), Channo Kamli Yaar Di (2016). His third film, Sarvann, will be releasing soon.\n\n When asked how he got into electronic media/films, when no one from his family is in this industry, pat came the reply,“Though I belong to a family of highly educated people, my parents allowed me to pursue my ambitions lock, stock and barrel. I saw my parents and my elder sister, who is a medical doctor, working relentlessly to succeed in life. And as a child, I learned my lessons that there are no shortcuts in life. Passion, hard work and dedication are the sure shot recipes for success”.\n\nVijay has always been fascinated by the stage. During his school days at Shivalik Public School in Chandigarh, he was very active on stage and participated in plays and numerous debate competitions and declamation contests. He says that during school days there were some months when he spent more time rehearsing and performing on stage than he did in the classroom.\n\nThere is never just one thing that leads to success for anyone. It is a combination of passion, dedication, hard work, and being in the right place at the right time. “There is no dearth of talent, but it is all about getting an opportunity and making the most of it. I got hired at RED FM as a copywriter and a voiceover artist, slowly moved to hosting music shows, and eventually graduated to political and current affairs open line talk shows. The key is to always keep evolving and continuously rediscovering yourself”, adds Vijay.\n\nOne cannot have a positive life with a negative mind. Vijay knows this without an iota of doubt. With encouragement from his family, he is making untiring efforts to carve a niche for himself.\n\n Vijay, is a precocious child of famous Homeopath Dr. R.S. Saini & retired Psychology professor, Mrs. S.B. Saini. His parents are in sync with his pursuits. They are singing from the same song sheet. When I asked Dr. Saini- his father, about him-he hastened to add, “Vijay is very caring, loving, respectful individual, and always lends a helping hand where help is warranted. We feel blessed that he is our son”\n\nVijay is a health conscious teetotaler who also loves writing and reciting poetry. On the poetry front he has penned a song namely “Mera bachpan laindi aavin maa” and a small story, “Phir Se”. The poetry of Gulzar, Ahmad Faraz & Irshad Kamil fascinates and inspires him.\n\nWhen asked about his vision for the next 10 years, he replied humbly, “I want to be in media and act in films. A performer is always known by his/her latest performance. So, I strive to be a better version of myself with each show.” In closing, with age on his side, I found him to be better equipped to handle the demanding profession and the daily grind of life. I wish him scintillating success in all walks of life.\n\n \n
