Early Life and Education
\nKavi Raz was born in Village Dhugga, District Hoshiarpur, Punjab, to Sr. Bakhshish Singh Dhugga, a military officer, and Mrs. Gurwant Kaur, a homemaker. His family later moved to England, where he grew up and pursued his education.\n\nWith a Postgraduate degree in Industrial Engineering and a Master’s in Theatre Arts, Raz followed his heart into the world of acting and storytelling. His academic foundation laid the groundwork for a thriving career in the performing arts.\n\n\n\n
Theatre and Hollywood Breakthrough
\nKavi Raz moved to Hollywood, the global hub of cinema, where he founded the Wandering Players’ Theatre Company. This was the first professional South Asian theatre company in the United States, staging over 50 plays and introducing Western audiences to the works of iconic Indian playwrights like Rabindranath Tagore, Sakharam Binder, and Shakuntala.\n\nRaz’s talent and dedication earned him recognition as the first South Asian actor to become a regular cast member of a major TV series, St. Elsewhere. He appeared in the show’s first two seasons and continued to make recurring appearances. Over the years, Raz has acted in more than 250 plays, TV shows, and films, including guest roles in The A-Team, MAS*H, and Star Trek: The Next Generation.\n\n\n\n
A Director with Purpose
