\n\nAs I entered JC Optical and Hearing, I was greeted by a spic-and-span space with aesthetically displayed vision products in glittering glass cabinets. These displays instantly captured the gaze of any entering customer, offering a clear view of the latest trends in sunglasses and sight vision frames.\n\nTurning around, I saw Jason Cheema, a first-generation, technically trained entrepreneur, busy assisting a prospective customer. Once free, Jason escorted me into a cozy room where we discussed the 5-year journey of his venture. At 33 years old, this determined Scorpion has already made a significant mark in his industry.\n\nJason shared that his approach to entrepreneurship was methodical—working in the industry for five years to learn the trade before venturing out on his own. A born Canadian, Jason pursued a 2-year Optical Program in 2005 and later completed a 3-year Hearing Course in Edmonton in 2011. With this foundation, he joined Loblaws’ Optical Department, gaining valuable experience before opening his first store in Surrey, BC, in 2014. Buoyed by success, he opened a second store in Langley in 2017.\n\nWhen asked why he started his business at such a young age without a family business background, Jason remarked, “I wanted to help our community and secure my family’s future.”\n\n
